Lachung Lachen and Yumthang Valley is one of the few divine valleys present in Sikkim. You will find high altitudes, distant calm, and above all, an amazing view of snowcapped mountains. Places to Visit In Lachung, Lachen and Yumthang Valley

Chopta Valley. For those people who really want to experience something amazing, then they shouldn’t be missing out on visiting Chopta Valley. This valley is one of the most sought-after and quite a pleasant sightseeing place to explore. The lush snow-capped mountains of this place are quite awe-inspiring.

Chungthang. The Chungthang is a very historic place and especially for history buffs, this place is just the right one to explore and discover. You can see people here spending quality time with their loved ones. Furthermore, what is really interesting is the fact that this beautiful city is connected with three more destinations such as Kalimpong, Siliguri, and Darjeeling.

Seven Sisters Waterfalls. The seven sisters waterfalls is one of the most visited waterfalls in India. This is one of the best places to visit in Lachung. Moreover, it is quite an amazing scenario to watch this waterfall in its natural raw form.

Thangu. You can visit Thangu which is a very beautiful lake in Sikkim. It is also one of the most popular tourist attractions to visit and explore. And this place being close to the Chinese border has a strong military presence.

Mangan. Mangan is another place which is just the perfect choice for you to shop around. Moreover, this place also has the view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range which makes this place to be worth visiting.

Gurudongmar Lake. Gurudongmar Lake is one such interesting place which you simply cannot afford to miss travelling to. This is one of the best tourist attractions to visit in Lachung. It is located at a very high altitude of around 5,430 m.  

Events and Festivals in & around Lachung Lachen and Yumthang Valley

Chaam. It is one of the famous dance performances in which the participants wear masks. It is celebrated on the 28th and the 29th day of the 11th month of the entire village of the Lachen.

Lossong. It is fundamentally a harvest festival which is also considered as the New Year of the Bhutia people. Celebrated on the 1st day of the 12th month according to the Bhutia calendar, this festival comes sometime in January. And on the first day, there is even a proper pooja ceremony which is performed in reverence to God.

Saga Dawa. This festival particularly signifies three events in the life of Buddha. Firstly, this day signifies the birthday of Gautam Buddha. Secondly, it is the day of his enlightenment. Thirdly, it is also the day when he left this world. And this festival is celebrated and is also considered as the holiest festivals in Buddhism.

Best Time to Visit Lachung Lachen and Yumthang Valley

You can visit Lachung any time of the year. However, if you are looking for the perfect months, then October to June would be a great time to visit this place.

How to Reach Lachung Lachen and Yumthang Valley?

By Air - The Bagdogra airport is the nearest airport and from there you would need to get a cab or some other means of transportation.

By Train - The nearest station is the New Jalpaiguri train station and from there you would need to catch a cab or some other means of transportation.
