Gangtok apart from being the capital city and the largest town of Sikkim is also the headquarters of East Sikkim district. Best Time to Visit Gangtok

Although any time of the year is great to visit Gangtok if you are looking for the most pleasant time then the months from September to June are the best to visit Gangtok. During this time the overall temperature is quite pleasant and is very much ideal for sightseeing.

How to Reach Gangtok

By Air. The nearest airport is Bagdogra International Airport that receives direct flights from Kolkata and New Delhi. The airport is nearly 125 km away from Gangtok and tourists are required to hire a cab or get on a local bus to reach the desired location in the city.

By Rail. The nearest railway station in the Gangtok is located in Siliguri that offers direct connectivity to states such as New Delhi and Kolkata and various other major cities of India. One can consider traveling by train if looking for a comfortable and budget-friendly travel option.  

By Road. Passionate road travelers arriving from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru are required to cover nearly 1,500, 2,400, 680, and 2,500km respectively to reach Gangtok. Another comfortable and budget-friendly option is to travel via inter-state buses. Inside the city, taxis are the common means of transport that you can take to explore the town.
