History of Auroville

It was at the annual conference in 1964 that the Sri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry passed a resolution for the establishment of a city that would be specifically dedicated to the vision of Sri Aurobindo.

Alfassa, who was known for being a spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo, was a huge part of this mission. He essentially believed that a man, in his essence, is a transitional being. According to his vision, such a universal township will be contributing in a very positive manner to the Indian renaissance.
