Kalpeni is fundamentally a group of three islets along with Tilakkam, Pitti and Cheriyam. Together these islands come across as a peculiar travel getaway to explore are a must-visit for anyone who likes to travel a lot. Interestingly, one of the coolest features of Kalpeni is a large storm bank consisting of majorly nothing but coral debris.

The reason for all this debris present here is believed to be a storm which came in 1847. It is said that this storm threw up huge coral boulders along with the shores of Kalpeni and since then it has been like this. However unheard of, this island is quite socially progressive as well. Yes, as it was here that the local girls first went to school locally. It was a time when education for women was considered as a taboo in the male dominant society.

By Air. The nearest airport from Kalpeni Island is situated at Agatti Islands. After you deboard at the airport you can either take a helicopter or a boat depending upon your budget. It is also important to know that travelling via helicopter will take you a time frame of around 15 minutes while travelling by boat may take you around 3 hours to reach the islands.
