Baksa also referred to as Bagsa is a beautiful district in Assam. Flanked by Bhutan in the north and Udalgiri district in the east, this region is home to several folklores and is blessed by nature’s immense beauty. 

Here you get to see a variety of flora and fauna, of which, the Manas National Park is a remarkable example. Talking about the climatic conditions, Baksa has a subtropical climate which means the weather conditions in the summer season here are mostly warm and humid and the winter season is dry and chilly.

Major Attractions in and Around Baksa

1. Kaziranga National Park

This wildlife park is home to perhaps the largest population of one-horned rhinos on our planet. Due to this, it won’t be wrong to say that the Kaziranga National Park is considered the national treasure for our country. The park was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 owing to its significance on the map of India.

2. Manas National Park

Manas National park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a national Tiger, Rhino, and Elephant Reserve. Here, you also get to find the rare Golden Langur along with the Red Panda. For anyone who loves to click pictures of nature at its vibrant best, then this is the kind of place which you must frequent every year or so.

3. Guwahati

Also referred to as the gateway to North-East India, Guwahati is one of the largest cities of Assam. The name of this city is taken from two Assamese words Guwa and Haat meaning Areca Nut and market respectively. 

4. Kamakhya Temple

The temple is one of the most revered shrines of Goddess Shakti and is flocked by lots of devotees all year round. Out of the many Shakti Peethas in our country, Kamakhya Temple is one. Many experts speculate that this temple was built between the 8th and 17th centuries.

To reach Baksa in Assam, you will need to cover a total distance of about 1,861, 2,686, 961, 2,933 km from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru respectively. Here are the following travel details on how you can reach here by the following means of public transport. 

By Air. Deboard at the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) aka Guwahati Airport situated 80-90 km away. It is fairly well connected with other cities via direct and connecting flights. From the airport, you can easily book a taxi or avail some other means of public transport to reach your destination. 

  • From Kolkata - Board Spicejet, IndiGo flights from Kolkata Airport. The airfares start from INR 3,000-4,000
  • From Tezpur - Board Air India flights from Tezpur Airport. The airfares start from INR 2,000-3,000
  • From Bhubaneswar - Board IndiGo, Vistara, Spicejet flights from Bhubaneswar Airport. The airfares start from INR 5,000-6,000

By Train. The nearest railhead is the Tihu Railway Station (TIHU) situated 40-55 km away. The station has okay train connectivity from nearby cities and towns. From the station, you will need to take a taxi or some other means of public transport to reach here.  

By Road. Depending upon your geographical location, you can also consider traveling here by roadways. From the nearby cities, one can take state-run/private buses, hire taxis, or if you want to take your own vehicle here.
