History Of Parwanoo

Initially, Parwanoo’s name was “Ooncha Parwanoo” and that’s why the name. Right after Himachal Pradesh was recognised as an Indian state on January 25th 1971, Parwanoo started to develop as an industrial township in 1973. Now, it is one of the major townships in Himachal Pradesh. 

Major Attractions Of Parwanoo

1. Timber Trail

This is the spot where you can admire the picture-perfect views of Parwanoo while enjoying a cable car ride. It is one of the most sought after tourist attractions in the town. 

2. Fruit Orchards

Parwanoo has got a delicious attraction for its travellers in the form of fruit orchards. Situated in the lap of Shivalik Range, the weather in Parwanoo is suitable for the apples and peaches to grow. 

3. Kali Mata Temple

Only 2 kilometres away from the town centre, Kali Mata Temple is a popular religious site for Hindu pilgrims. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and a large number of villagers pay a visit as a tribute to the deity. 

4. Gorkha Fort

This place is perfect for history buffs. Situated on the small hill, Fort is only 16 kilometres away from Parwanoo. The fort is now a symbol of strength and courage as it was founded by the Gurkha Army Chief Amar Singh Thapa to fight against the British.

Being a small town, Parwanoo doesn’t have its own airport. The nearest airports from Parwanoo are Chandigarh and Shimla that are 30 kilometres and 70 kilometres away respectively. Taxis and buses are easily available to cover the remaining distance.

Government operated buses are easily available from Delhi, Chandigarh and Shimla. It is also well-connected with towns like Ambala and Solan.

By Train

The nearest railway station to Parwanoo is in Kalka which is just 4 kilometres from the destination. Kalka Railway Station is well-connected with major cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Taxis are easily available just outside the station.
