Sunburn festival celebrates the modern form of entertainment that is known as EDM, Electronic Dance, and Music. The festival is an annual affair in Goa that is participated by the generation next along with the artists and tourists in general. Sunburn Goa is a 3-day electronic music festival celebrates music, dance, food, and budding artists. The festival was first organized in the year 2007 and since then it is an annual affair in Goa. The idea of the festival was conceived and conceptualized by Nikhil Chinapa and Percept entertainment with a motive to create and provide a platform for budding and popular artists to showcase their talent under the shining stars and by the serenity of a beach. Sunburn festival features a colossal stage where concerts happen and celebrity artists perform.
Held by the beachside, the ambiance during the concert and in the evening is just mesmerizing, which itself is an attraction for many visitors. Candolim beach had been the venue for the festival for many years before it was switched to Pune in the year 2016. It was reported that there were some pending dues and permissions issues that led to the shift in the venue but the festival is back in Goa now.
Celebrity musicians from across the globe make this festival worth visiting. To date, many celebrities like Quintino, Afrojack, DJ Snake, Mark Knight, and Pete Tong have performed at the Sunburn festival. Many Bollywood celebrities have been captured attending the festival. Some popular Bollywood celebs who have been captured by paparazzi are Shraddha Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Arjun Rampal, Imran Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Sonu Sood.
This year the venue for the festival is Vagator Beach in North Goa. The festival is scheduled for 27th 28th and 29th December 2019 and will witness global artists like Martin Garrix and the popular duo from ‘The Chain Smokers’. Apart from these, DJ Luciano is also making his debut in India at Sunburn festival.
Camping along the beaches is another major attraction that people look forward to while attending the festival. Some travel and tourism websites even offer combo packages which include festival tickets and camping rent.
Sunburn festival is not just about music and dance performances but also about many adventure activities. Participants and tourists can enjoy activities such as a hot air balloon ride, zorbing, bungee jumping, and giant wheel rides.

One has to cover a distance of approx. 1,900 km, 600 km, 2,100 km and 600 km from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru respectively. After reaching Goa, head to the Vagator beach in North Goa, the venue for the festival via NH66 or NH 748.
By Rail. Thivim train station is the nearest station to Vagator. Trains from all the metro cities and parts of India arrive here regularly and frequently. From the station, one may take a taxi or a bus to reach the venue which is approx.17km away.
If you are planning a rail journey then you may consider reserving a seat in Mngla LKSDP Express from Delhi, and Mandovi Express or Konkan Kanya Express from Mumbai. There are no direct trains from Kolkata to Bengaluru to Thivim Station hence one may consider traveling by connecting stations.
By Air. Dabolim airport is Goa’s international airport that receives direct and connecting flights from all parts of India. From the airport, one may take local transport like a taxi or a bus to reach the desired place in Goa. The distance to reach the Vagator is approx. 44km.
Air Asia, IndiGo, GoAir, Air India, SpiceJet, and Vistara operate non-stop flights to Dabolim airport from Delhi and Mumbai. If you are arriving from Kolkata then you may consider traveling by IndiGo via non-stop flight.
