1. Mr. Indranil Sen, the State Tourism Minister of West Bengal, announced the updation of the infrastructure in the Assembly. The upgrades are being done with the help of the private sector. Two things primarily planned at the mangrove forest include eco-friendly hotels and entertainment zones. Some of the inclusions of the existing packages include ferrying tourists to and fro through the jungles and the wetlands. Starting houseboat services is also on the cards.

2. Jharkhand has got a new airport at Deogarh. It is a religious hotspot as it is home to the Baba Baidyanath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The airport's design is based on this holy temple. The trials are ongoing, and the technical NOC is awaited. It is the second airport in the state after Ranchi. The entire place has been done in tribal art and local handicrafts. Not just that, the domestic airport is a sustainable place with solar panels and water harvesting systems.

3. The Vibrant Village program launched by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs will now have villages on the Indo-Chinese border opened for tourists. Rural areas in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, and Arunachal Pradesh will be covered. All those villages located within 10km of the last border villages will be considered in the first phase. A few villages are Namgia, Chango, and Chitkul, along with nine passes, wherein two are in Lahaul & Spiti and seven in Kinnaur. 

4. As the crisis deepens in Sri Lanka, many nations like Canada and the UK have published travel advisories for their citizens, warning them of the scenario in the island country. Due to a shortage of funds or hard currency, the nation is going through an acute shortage of essential items like food, fuel, and medicines. Covid and the Easter bombings had already had a toll on its tourism industry, and the current crisis has deepened it further.

5. Yes, that's true! On 15th May 2022, the Eiffel Tower in Paris got a new digital radio antenna almost six meters in height. Consequently, the iconic landmark, built by Gustava Eiffel in the 19th century in the Fashion Capital of the World, now has a height of almost 330 meters. 

6. There have been rapid changes in Covid-19 guidelines worldwide as cases dip. Canada is likely to relax the mandatory RT-PCR test report for fully vaccinated travelers, while Vietnam has done away with its quarantine rule for international visitors. New Zealand has opened its borders for tourists after almost two years, and the UK has relaxed all regulations related to Covid-19 starting 21th March 2022. Similarly, Mauritius has also scrapped RT-PCR test reports for visitors.
