The Indian Institute of Astrophysics has signed a tripartite agreement with the Ladakh Union Territory Administration and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council to construct Dark Sky Reserve at Hanle in Ladakh, India’s first ever. The presence of the Reserve will give a boost to local tourism through science. The reason behind choosing Hanle is that the place has traditionally been a stargazer’s hotspot and has cloudless nights for most of the year.

4) In December 2022, Get Ready For The World’s Longest River Cruise In India

Antara Luxury River Cruises is set to launch the world’s longest river journey in December 2022. The journey will be onboard Anatara Ganga Vilas which will travel from Kashi in Uttar Pradesh through the Ganga and Brahmaputra River and end at Dibrugarh in Assam. The trip will see the cruise pass through 27 smaller rivers in five states and two countries.

5) The Ladakh Tourism Requests Tourists To Advance Book Their Accommodation During Peak Season

Since Ladakh attracts many tourists during the season, making it difficult for tourists to find accommodation, the Tourism Department has come up with this request. The request has been created specifically for tourists visiting the Pangong Lake area as the wildlife sanctuary is starting to bear the brunt of unplanned tourist activities in recent years. The department has also requested tourists to acclimatise to the climatic conditions for 48 hours before visiting places at higher altitudes like Chang La, Khardung La, Tso Moriri, and Pangong Lake.
