Gudibande fort is located in the Chikkaballapur district of the state of Karnataka. Around 400 years ago in the 17th century, a yogi and a local chieftain called Byre Gowda built the Gudibande Fort. It is said that the yogi belonged to the Tuluva dynasty of the Vijaynagar empire. It is believed that the Gudibande Fort is a concise replica of the Madhugiri Fort. To help soldiers flee in case of emergency, the fort has seven levels with interconnecting escape routes. Established by Sage Vishwamitra and Lord Rama which is believed to be one of the 108 Jyotirlingas, a Shiva Temple called Sir Rameshwara Temple is situated on the top of the fort. The view of Byrasagara reservoir from the top of the fort and the sculpted images on square-based pillars are a sight to behold. With around 19 rock ponds at different levels of the fort, the fort’s main feature is rainwater harvesting.

An interesting history is associated with this fort. As per the legends, due to the wrath of Gods and Demons, the ocean was in turmoil and a lot of species, both good and bad, came out of it. Pious Cow was one of the species that sprang out of it and is believed to have landed on this place. If you can't believe this tale, then the hoof marks of the cow on the rocks might give you some evidence to support this story.

1. Avalabetta Hilltop

Maintained by the Forest Department, the Avalabetta hilltop is still in good condition. With the quietude in the atmosphere replete with greenery, the short trek to the hilltop is worth every step you take to reach here. You can sit on the boulders and enjoy the panoramic view if you get tired, and a soft breeze will accompany you. Reach the hill either during sunrise or sunset if you wish to witness the view in its full glory. The monkeys who live all around the place are mischievous and you should beware of them. 

2. Lakshmi Narasimha Temple

Situated on top of the Avalabetta hills, Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is home to many spiritual insides that are well complemented by its pristine surroundings. In front of the Deity, the devotees offer cow milk to make their wishes come true. The priest who takes care of this temple is the most interesting thing about Lakshmi Narasimha Temple as he has many interesting historical and mythological tales to tell of this place. While you are there, make sure that you have a quick chat with him. 

3. Dandiganahalli Dam

Located around 23 kilometers away from Avalabetta, the massive Dandiganahalli dam is quite a sight to see. The dam is the main source of water for several villages. Anyone can freely explore the dam without any restrictions and hindrances. Surrounded by rolling hills, this dam is a great place for birdwatching as they fly down to quench their thirst. A must-visit place in the region, the dam is surrounded by calmness and a majestic view. 

4. Srinivasa Sagara

Located at a distance of 23 km from Avalabetta, Srinivasa Sagara is a lake that is replete with water. The serenity of this place multiplies when the fishing boats float peacefully at the edges of this lake. Surrounded by lush greenery, the lake looks stupendous while the sun is setting. To enjoy some peaceful moments with nature, tourists sit by the lake.
