History of Radhanagar Beach

Havelock Island had always been known to be home to many native tribes before it became a popular romantic tourist destination. Radhanagar beach is also known as Beach No.7 by the local people. The government of India promotes eco-tourism at Havelock island which was named after British Officer General Sir Henry Havelock.

When Britishers came to India in the 18th century, a marine officer named John Ritchie was sent on a tour to explore the eastern coast of India. During his expedition, he came across a group of islands near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In the honor of this British marine officer, a group of Islands in the east of Andaman Island was named Ritchie’s Archipelago. Radhanagr Beach lies in this Archipelago.

By Air

Radhanagar Beach is located on Swaraj Dweep (formerly Havelock Island) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The nearest airport is Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair. Visitors first fly to Port Blair from major Indian cities like Delhi and then travel by government or private ferry to Swaraj Dweep, followed by a short road journey to the beach.

By Train

There is no railway network in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Travelers must first reach Port Blair by air and then continue via ferry to Swaraj Dweep.
