History of Radhanagar Beach Havelock Island

Havelock Island had always been known to be home to many native tribes before it became a popular romantic tourist destination. Radhanagar beach is also known as Beach No.7 by the local people. The government of India promotes eco-tourism at Havelock island which was named after British Officer General Sir Henry Havelock.   

When Britishers came to India in the 18th century, a marine officer named John Ritchie was sent on a tour to explore the eastern coast of India. During his expedition, he came across a group of islands near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In the honor of this British marine officer, a group of Islands in the east of Andaman Island was named Ritchie’s Archipelago. Radhanagr Beach lies in this Archipelago.

1. Kalapathar Beach

The Kalapathar beach is an incredible travel getaway, named after a nearby village known as Kala Pathar. Kalapathar Beach has a rich and dense backdrop of really rich forests, a considerably long stretch of white sand as well as clear and pristine waters to attract tourists from across the globe. It is a must-visit for those who love traveling and exploring exotic beaches.

2. Elephant Beach

Elephant Beach is another popular tourist attraction on Havelock Island. This place is out and out amazing and offers a serene sense of wonder to the people who come to this place. How to Reach Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar Beach, situated in Havelock Island, is surrounded by water from all sides hence choosing railways or roadways is not possible. There are only two ways to reach Havelock island one is by air and the other by water.  

By Air

If you are planning to reach Radhanagar Beach via airways then you would need to fly to Port Blair first. From Port Blair, one has to travel to the nearest dock to take the ferry to travel further. The distance between Port Blair and Radhanagar Beach is approx. 75km. Veer Savarkar International airport receives regular direct and connecting flights from mainland India.  

By Water

There are regular government-run ships that travel to Haddo Wharf Port in Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam. Tourists traveling from mainland India may book seats on the ship to reach there. After reaching the Haddo Wharf port one is required to take another jetty service to reach Radhanagar Beach.
