The Beach Festival celebration is a new addition to the list of major attractions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This annual 3-day festival is held in the month of April and is a kaleidoscope of beach activities and an occasion of celebration for the beach lovers.
A lot of fun beach activities, events, and entertainment programs are organized to keep the visitors engaged and entertained throughout. Another motive behind organizing the Beach festival is to promote the beach culture, economy, and tourism in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Beach festival is an annual celebration that takes place at Corbyn’s Cove Beach and is organized by the Directorate of Tourism Andaman and Nicobar Administration. The idea behind the Beach festival is to encourage beach activities in A&N Islands, in order to give energy to the Islanders and furthermore to the tourists. The 3-day festival is marked by the aroma of flavourful seafood, decorated shopping stalls for clothes and accessories, hand-crafted decor items, souvenir shops, and so much more. In addition to all this, various entertaining games and water sports activities also make for an integral part of the festival.
The 3-day celebration includes beach activities like coconut tree climbing competition, beach volleyball, and other beach sports like a tug of war, kabaddi and so forth. Food courts with diverse and delicious versions of seafood and, various other entertainment programs, fun activities are also arranged. Fishermen Dinghi race, Dinghi decoration competition, and Sand sculpture competition are the other few highlights of this festival.
1. Display of Navy Boats. Sometimes the Navy also takes part in the festival and it showcases its special boats at the festival. The best part about this is that people can actually get on these boats and witness the action and thrill of being on a real navy boat.
2. Live Musical Shows. Music shows by budding artists is another highlight for which tourists attend the festival. Live music shows happen in the evening in the backdrop of a beautiful sunset. The event is attended not just by the beach lovers but also by the music lovers because listening to music by the seashore is an unbeatable experience.

By Road. From Port Blair, Corbyn’s Cove beach is just 8km away and one may cover this distance by hiring a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw. In case you have to travel to the beach from Havelock Island then you have to cover a distance of approx. 67km in a taxi to reach the venue for the beach festival.
By Air. There are many direct flights to Port Blair Airport which is also known as Veer Savarkar International Airport. There are regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and other metropolitan cities of India.
If you are flying from the east coast of India and cities such as Kolkata and Chennai then it will roughly take you around 2 hours to reach A&N. However, if you are visiting from Delhi and Mumbai then it would take you around 5 hours. From the airport, one has to cover a distance of approx. 8km to reach the Corbyn’s Cove beach.
Air India from Delhi, GoAir from Mumbai, Vistara, Go Air, AirIndia IndiGo and SpiceJet from Kolkata, and IndiGo and GoAir from Bengaluru operate direct flights to Port Blair.
By Water. 8 cruise ships sail to A&N from Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Kolkata. There are regular and frequent sailings on a monthly basis. On an average, a single voyage takes about 60-70 hours. The ship terminates at Haddo Wharf Port in Port Blair. One may also make online reservations to travel via these ships.
