Devprayag is a confluence of two rivers and a confluence of religious beliefs and immense natural beauty that refreshes one’s soul to the core! Devprayag is the place where river Alaknanda and river Bhagirathi merge into one is known as Ganga, and this holy confluence flows through 11 Indian states nurturing life alongside. The holy land of Devprayag is not only the birthplace of the river Ganga but is also connected to Lord Rama and is home to a 10,000 years old temple dedicated to him. Devprayag is both a spiritual and tourist place in Uttarakhand.   

Summer is the best time to visit Devprayag as, during this time, the weather is quite pleasant to stroll around and explore this beautiful town. The town witnesses great tourist and devotee footfall throughout the year, barring the monsoon season due to heavy rainfall, which often leads to landslides, road blockages, and humid weather. History of Devprayag 

Devprayag comes under the Tehri district in Uttarakhand and is a popular religious and tourist destination. The town is also home to Nakshatra Vedh Shala, which was established in 1946 by renowned astronomy scholar Late Pandit Chakradhar Joshi. The observatory attracts the fancy of tourists and offers them an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about the astronomical world through numerous research books. Besides books, the observatory also features a collection of manuscripts and equipment used to study astrology in the bygone era.

1. The confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi

The beauty of this confluence point is beyond one’s imagination! The confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi river is so fascinating that you can stay at the bathing ghat and gaze at it for hours! The ghat is a beautiful spot from where you can capture this captivating site along with the beautiful surroundings in your camera. This bathing ghat in Devprayag is built on many levels to accommodate the elevated water level in the two rivers during monsoon.

2. Raghunathji Temple

Dedicated to Lord Rama, this temple is believed to be 10,000 years old! The temple is above the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers and is made of huge rocks. The premises of Raghunathji temple also have Hanuman temple, Garud temple, Shankaracharya temple, and Annapurna Devi temple. Legends have it that Lord Rama performed mortification here after defeating Ravana, who was a Brahmin.   
  
3. Suspension Bridges

Built over Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, the view of these rivers from the bridge is surreal. Tourists often arrive here to capture the fascinating view of the rivers and the town from this bridge. 

4. Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built by Adi Shankaracharya. Kyun Kaleshwar temple has the idols of Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Kartikeya.

Devprayag is approximately 315km via NH 7 and NH 334, 1700km via NH 48, 1500km via NH 19, and 2400km via NH 44 from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, respectively. By Air. Jolly Grant Airport, which is 91km away from Devprayag, is the nearest. Regular flights by all airlines such as Vistara, AirIndia, SpiceJet, IndiGo, and more arrive and take off from here. By Rail. Haridwar (97km) and Rishikesh(74) are the two railheads closest to Devprayag. Superfast and Express trains from all parts of the country arrive at these two stations, hence you can plan a rail journey without worrying about the availability of trains.
