Lavasa is popularly referred to as India’s first planned hill city or India’s newest hill station. In terms of style and overall vibes, this city is based on an Italian town, Portofino. Covering seven hills and an area of about 25,000 acres in Mose Valley near Pune, Lavasa is definitely a great place to visit and explore around. 

For any modern-day traveller, this place comes across as quite impressive and a very fun retreat due to so many different things that it has to offer from modern-day infrastructure to delicious delicacies. On top of that, the natural views of this amazing destination will leave an indelible impression on your soul for all the times to come. 

Basically, it is a great place to hang out with your friends away from the hectic city life. As Lavasa has a very serene and pleasant atmosphere throughout the year, you can visit here anytime. But still, the best time to visit Lavasa would be the months between September and March.

Major Attractions in and Around Lavasa 

1. Lakeside Promenade. This is a very popular tourist destination in Lavasa. Here you get to explore a wide range of eateries and also indulge in shopping. You can also enjoy some quality boating time with your loved ones or maybe spend your evening cycling along or by just taking a peaceful stroll. 

2. Bamboosa. Basically, this is a cultural centre situated in Lavasa and highlights the significance of Bamboo products in our daily lives. The surroundings of this place bloom with a lot of trees, so, if you want to visit someplace unique and chilled out for a change then, you should give a chance to Bamboosa.

3. Temghar Dam. This is again a massive dam which is built on the river Muthu and is a significant source of water supply to the city. From here, the tourists get to witness incredible panoramic views of the Temghar reservoir as well. If you seek something off-beat and interesting then, a visit to Temghar Dam should be on your travel list. 

How to Reach Lavasa

Lavasa is a beautiful destination and is situated at a distance of 1,475, 187, 1,981, 947 km from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru respectively. Check out the following details on how you can reach here by the following means of transportation.

By Air. You can consider deboarding at either Mumbai Airport (BOM) or Pune Airport (PNQ) to travel to Lavasa as per your comfort. However, out of the two, Pune Airport is the nearest aerodrome situated about 60-70 km away. The airport has good flight connectivity with other Indian cities and towns via direct and connecting flights. As you get off the airport, book a taxi to reach here; it will approximately cost you INR 2,000 - INR 3,000. 

  • From Bhubaneswar - Board IndiGo, Air India flights from Bhubaneswar Airport. The airfares will cost you between INR 5,000 - INR 10,000 per head 
  • From Bhopal - Board IndiGo flights from Bhopal Airport. The airfares will cost you between INR 5,000-8,000

By Train. The nearest railway station is the Pune Junction (PUNE) situated about 60 km away. Situated on the Mumbai-Chennai line, this train station has overall good connectivity with other Indian cities. From the station, you can easily take a cab to reach Lavasa. 

  • From Bhopal - Board Goa Express SPL from Bhopal Junction and deboard at Pune Junction
  • From Delhi - Board Goa Express SPL from H.Nizamuddin Junction and deboard at Pune Junction

By Road. The public transportation via road to Lavasa is not very frequent and quite average. However, private buses have good connectivity operating to and fro Lavasa. On the other hand, there are many people who would deliberately not recommend taking any means of public transport to reach here, the reason being the roadways are so beautiful and filled with beautiful views that the best way to experience a trip to Lavasa would be via your own two/four-wheeler. 

Keeping this in mind, first travel to Pune via some means of public transport and from there you can rent out a bike or a car as per your requirement and travel here.

  • From Pune - 58 km via Temghar - Lavasa Road
  • From Alibaug - 181 km via Bengaluru- Mumbai Highway
  • From Nashik - 260 km via NH60
