The World Is Taking Bold Steps Towards The Revival Of Tourism Industry

1. Nandankanan Zoological Park in Odisha gets an eco-friendly toy train. A popular tourist attraction, the zoological park is located in Bhubaneswar. Bikram Keshari Arukha, Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Minister of Odisha inaugurated the battery operated toy train. 

Sanjeet Kumar, the Deputy Director of the Nandankanan Zoological Park siad "The toy train, which will run on the batteries has facilities of five coaches comprising 72 seats in addition to two wheelchairs for disable person." 

2. Raghav Langer, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, recently launched the first tourist village at Panchari in Udhampur at Sankari Devta Ground at Meer Panchari. According to Langer, this tourism initiative will strengthen the community entrepreneurship and rural economy, and will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to youth and women. 

According to reports, in a move to boost tourism in the region, homestay facilities will also be available here at Panchari, which will generate income for the local youth.

3. In India, domestic airlines can now fly at their full capacity from October 18, 2021. After reviewing the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic and seeing the growth of domestic air travel in the country, the Indian government announced scheduled domestic air operations to be restored in the country without any capacity restrictions from the said date.

There was a cap on domestic airline capacity from May 2020 by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, which later allowed the domestic airlines to operate at a capacity of 85 percent. 

As per government officials, "After review of the current status of Scheduled Domestic Operations viz-a-viz passenger demand for air travel in terms of the purpose specified in the initial order dated May 21, 2020...it has been decided to restore the scheduled domestic air operations with effect from 18-10-2021 without any capacity restriction."

4. The government of Sikkim has decided to lift the restrictions for inter-state travel. This means that travellers wishing to enter the state are no longer required to show negative RT-PCR reports or vaccination certificates at the state border. As per directed by the Sikkim home department, all check posts of Sikkim will henceforth remove restrictions. With the positivity rate coming down, the state has seen an improvement in the recent weeks. 

In order to help curb the spread of the virus, the travel restrictions were placed by the government. Sikkim has the highest number of vaccinated population in the country. Moreover, it is also being said that it is the first state that has administered the first dose of vaccination to 100 percent of its population, but it is still unverified. 

5. From low risk countries from November onward, Thailand will start allowing quarantine-free entry for fully-vaccinated travelers. Prayuth Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand, recently announced this. This marks another milestone towards the revival of Thailand’s most important sector, the tourism sector. 

Also, the entertainment venues will be allowed to reopen in the country from December 1, after the sale of alcohol will be allowed.
