It is great to see vivid things happening in the global travel industry. The industry is dynamically catching up, and it seems like it has never lost the past two years due to the pandemic. Here are the top travel highlights from the tourism world this week.

1. The Badri-Kedar Temple committee has announced that the Kedarnath Temple will be opened for devotees starting 6th May 2022. The gates will be opened on Vrishchik Lagna, at around 06:25 am. The date and timing were decided after a religious ceremony was conducted at the Omkareshwar Temple at Ukhimath during Shivratri. On 2nd May 2022, the panchmukhi idol of God Shiva would be transferred to the Kedarnath Temple from the Omkareshwar Temple in a flower-decked ornate palanquin.

2. Contrary to the speculations, the Director-General of Civil Aviation has announced recently that India has planned to extend the suspension of international flights. All scheduled arrivals and departures from international destinations stand suspended till further notice. Only commercial passenger flights operating as per the air bubble arrangements and cargo airlines will keep operating.

3. The largest Safari Park globally has opened its doors in Sharjah. Called the Sharjah Safari Park, the new Park covers an area of 8 sq km. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi inaugurated the Park. This is the largest Safari Park located outside Africa. It contains twelve natural environments, 50000 animals, 120+ species, and 100000 African acacia trees. Besides this, visitors can also witness the native life of Africans in a Zanzibar village.

4. Adding another landmark tourist attraction, Gulmarg in Kashmir has its first igloo cafe. It is also the world’s largest igloo cafe at 37.5 feet tall. The diameter of the cafe is about 44.5 feet. Before this, the world’s largest igloo cafe was in Switzerland that is 33.8 feet tall and 42.4 feet in diameter.

The cafe has a staircase and can accommodate about 40 people at one time. The owners are hopeful that the cafe made from snow will stand tall till 15th March post which it will be closed for the public.

5. Located on the 120th floor, 1825 feet above the ground, the Heavenly Jin restaurant in Shanghai is the world’s highest restaurant. It is present in the J Hotel Shanghai Tower and has officially been presented the ‘Highest Restaurant in a Building’ title by the Guinness Book of World Records.
