The heart, soul, and body are rejuvenated by traveling to new places. Have a look at the weekly happenings in the tourism world from around the globe.

1. As per a press release issued by Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, the airline is all set to start flights to Mumbai, the second city in India after New Delhi. The operations will begin in July 2022, and ticket sales to roll out from 5th April 2022. The wide-body aircraft Airbus A330 will be flying passengers from Helsinki to Mumbai.

2. The Department of Tourism, Ladakh, has informed the public about the hosting of the Festival through a social media post. The Apricot Blossom Festival will begin on 13th April, end on 22nd April 2022, and be held in Kargil and Leh. This year's theme is Chuli Mentok (apricot is known as chuli in the local language).

3. The Indian Railways has announced the launch of the Char Dham Yatra package. The package was stopped due to Covid-19 in the last two years. The 11 night and 12-day package will take pilgrims from Badrinath to Gangotri, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, and Yamunotri. Other places that are part of the package are Barkot, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Janki Chatti, and Sonprayag. Complimentary breakfast and dinner will be served on board. The package amount will be Rs. 58,900 per person for group travel, and Rs. 77,600 for individual bookings.

4. The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma, announced the same on Twitter. The Living Root Bridges or Jungkieng Jri is now mentioned in the tentative list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. The inclusion is significant as the bridge exemplifies the human-ecology symbiosis and highlights sustainability as the key to a growing economy.

The bridges continue to grow due to the continued efforts of the local Khasi tribe and keep about 75 rural villages connected in Meghalaya. The Chief Minister had advocated the inclusion of the bridges in the list during the state's golden jubilee celebrations.

5. The Ratmalana Airport, the island country's oldest international airport, reopened its doors for international use after nearly fifty years. The first flight to land here was from the Maldives, a 50-seater aircraft operated by Maldivian Airlines on 27th March 2022. The Airlines will operate about three flights each week at present.

The Ratmalana Airport was converted into a domestic airport in the late 1960s after the Bandaranaike airport was constructed for international operations.
