It is particularly known for showcasing the rich and cultural heritage of Kutch, Gujarat, which is perhaps one of the most ecologically abundant landforms in India. This desert festival was founded in 2006 and was inaugurated by our current Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The primary objective of this festival was to attract the Global audience to Gujarat for tourism purposes. This festival initially started out as a three-day event and now, owing to popular demand, it has become almost a 100+ days celebration.
The tagline “Banao Apni Rann Ki Nayi Aur Umaang Se Bhari Kahaniyan” suits the fest quite well. During this festival, a whole city of approximately 400 tents is set up. This consists of both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned tents. All of these arrangements are done on the very outskirts of the bordering village known as Dhordo. A great number of tours like Diu tour, Saurashtra tour, Somnath tour, etc. are organized for the people.
Furthermore, there is just so much to do and so much to indulge your senses into when it comes to Rann Utsav. Couples who visit the festival generally go on a date under the moon along with spending quality time in the nearby villages such as Khadva, Bhirandiyra.
Apart from celebrating the music, you can also go shopping for exclusive handicrafts, leather articles, and intriguing silverware and Kutch embroidery. The combination of all this makes Rann Utsav a truly enchanting festival.

Moving to the attire, the womenfolk are mostly seen wearing Chaniya Choli and Chaniyo, which is the signature attire of Gujarati women. The traditional clothing of men includes Chorn, Dhoti, Kurta, Phento, etc.

By Air. Gujarat is home to more than 10 airports. To name a few - Vadodra Airport, Surat International Airport, Bhuj Airport, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International Airport.
However, the nearest airport is Bhuj Airport. It is located at an approximate distance of 90-100 km from Rann of Kutch where this event is celebrated.
Many airlines like Jet Airways, IndiGo, Go Air, Spicejet operates to and fro with overall good flight connectivity connecting Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Indore. After deboarding at the airport, you will need to travel the remaining distance of about 80 km via some means of public transportation like a cab.
By Train. Kutch doesn’t have its own train station. The nearest railway station is situated in Bhuj of the same name. As compared with other train stations in Gujarat, this one is not very busy. Here is how you can travel here via trains from the following places.
