Comic Con has always been a phenomenal jetpack ride of joy and fun for people all across the world. In every country, where it has happened to date, it has seen full attendance of the audience. And now India is also a part of it. Started since 2011 February, Comic-Con attracts close to 5000 visitors during its tenure. And since its inception, with time, this mind-boggling event has come across as one of the most popular fun events in India to be ever held. 

It is fully packed with the best of everything whether it be comic books, films along with TV merchandising and every other kind of collectable that a true fan may wish for. The popularity of this event has come so far that, it won’t be wrong to call it a ‘way of the fans to celebrate their endless love and passion for the comics and their favourite comic characters.

Major Attractions of Comic-Con

Essentially a series of comic-based conventions, Comic-Con, due to its popularity, has expanded its reach in other cities as well like Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. And together these events are responsible for attracting more than 2,00,000 visitors on an annual basis. Hard to believe isn’t it?

1. The Cosplay Contest. The major attraction of any Comic-Con event is its cosplay contest. And at the Delhi event as well, it will be the major attraction of the whole event like every year. A great number of people come together to celebrate this contest while showing their personal craftsmanship and artform dressed as their favourite character from the movies and comics. Yes, as per the data about 1,200 exhibitors have participated at the Comic-Con, Delhi till now. 

Entries for the contest are only accepted if the participating person is role-playing a character from the realm of comic-books. Be it Spiderman, Ironman or any other fictional character. All is expected of you is to be the best, and the winner at the Indian cosplay further gets to showcase his or her talent at Crown World Championship of Cosplay, Chicago, Comic-Con.

2. The Desi and International Guests. As we know it, Comic-Con also sees many guests both local and international who attend the festival making it more enticing for the fans. And this year too, there is no shortage of guests. The list for International guests and artists includes BossLogic, Chad Hardin (The man behind the Harley Quinn comic book series) and Bernard Chang.  

On the other hand, the desi list includes Sumaira Sheikh, Rahul Dua, Vaibhav Sethia and many others. You are bound to get entertained with there presence in the house. So, now that you have all this information, all you need to do is gear up for the fun, Masti and magic to unfold. 

How to Reach 

The capital city of India, Delhi is all about exploring the urban touch of our culture. It is located at an approximate distance of 1,422, 2,153, 1,498 and 1,562 km from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad respectively. Let’s discuss how you can reach Delhi via the following routes.

By Air. Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) serves as one of the major hubs. This airport is spread over an area of 5,106 acres. Named after late Mrs Indira Gandhi (the former Prime Minister of India) it is considered to be the busiest airport of our country in terms of total passenger traffic since 2009.

One highlighting feature of this airport is that it has got three parallel runways with the functionality of CAT IIIB instrument landing system on both of the sides. Fundamentally, this system is responsible for using radio waves to guide the planes on to the runway.

Many airlines like Air India, Vistara, Air Asia operate to and fro Delhi with good connectivity. After you deboard at the airport, you can easily take an auto or a cab to reach NSIC Okhla.

However, if you want to travel elsewhere then there are a plethora of travel options like bus, cab, autos, rickshaws, metro to reach your preferred location.

By Road. Delhi has good road connectivity to nearby cities and states.

  1. From Agra, you will need to cover 229 km via Taj Express Highway
  2. From Jaipur, you will need to cover 268 km via NH48
  3. From Gwalior, you will need to cover 342 km via NH44
  4. From Bikaner, you will need to travel 457 km via NH11 or NH52

Apart from your personal vehicle or a cab, you can also rely on interstate buses to reach Delhi. The Maharana Pratap Interstate Bus Terminus (popularly called ISBT Terminal) is not just the oldest but also one of the biggest interstate bus terminus in all of India handling about 1800 buses on a day to day basis.

By Train. Delhi has various train stations. Thus planning a trip to Delhi via train would be a convenient option for you. Some of the most prominent railheads of Delhi are New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Anand Vihar Terminus.

However, out of these as well, the New Delhi and Old Delhi stations offer very good connectivity with other cities and states.

The Old Delhi Railway Station is the oldest train station of Delhi whereas the New Delhi Railway Station is considered as the busiest railway stations in the country with the maximum number of train frequencies and overall passenger movement.

  1. From Jaipur, you will need to board Swarna J Raj Express via Jaipur Junction and deboard at New Delhi Railway Junction
  2. From Kanpur, you can board Vande Bharat Express via Kanpur Central
  3. From Ajmer, you can board Swarna J Raj Express via Ajmer Junction and deboard at New Delhi Railway Junction.

After you deboard at the New Delhi Railway Junction, you can easily get some means of transportation like a cab, bus, auto, metro. However, to reach NSIC Okhla you can rely on auto or either a cab.
