Beaches are always pure love and so are the ones in Orissa. Since Puri is a coastal city, its beach is quite popular and equally beautiful. This city is also a pilgrimage place for a lot of devotees along with being a popular tourist place. The beach is also the site of the annual Puri Beach Festival, which is co-sponsored by the Indian Ministry of Tourism, the city of Odisha, the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts, and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Kolkata. The beach hosts sand art displays, including work by international award-winning local sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik.

Places to Visit around Puri Beach

Sri Jagannath Puri Temple. If you want to experience something majestic then visiting Puri Temple is one such place where you should absolutely go. This Vaishnava temple has its origin in the 12th century which enshrines Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra as well as Balabhadra.

Chilika Lake. This is the kind of place which you should travel to if you want to experience the raw beauty of nature. This place is situated around 50 km from Puri and is also considered one of the major tourist attractions in Odisha. This place is full of enticing lush greenery and is beautifully laden with trees etc.

Narendra Tank. Considered as the largest tanks which are situated in Odisha, this particular tank has its original roots which date back to the 15th century. What is significant about this tank is the fact that it is considered very holy among the local people.

Lakshmi Temple. The Lakshmi Temple has a very significant spiritual significance, owing to the beliefs established around the history of this structure. If the legend is to be believed, then the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati also happened on the sixth day of Jyeshta and even were invited to this temple.

Raghurajpur Artist Village. You will love this place if you have a sort of creative bent towards things in life. Situated near Puri, this village is specifically known for its Pattachitra paintings. And along with this, it is also known for a plethora of art forms such as palm leaf engraving, wood carvings, stone carvings and so much more. This is a must visit place if you are around Puri Beach.

Astaranga Beach. The word “Astaranga” means colourful sunset. And if you are the kind of person who loves to take an evening stroll on the damp sand watching the dusk take over the sky then yes, there is a great probability that you would fall in love with this place.

March to July are the best months to travel to this place as the overall temperature is quite pleasant for the purpose of travelling around.

By Air - The nearest airport is situated in Bhubaneshwar at a distance of around 60 km. From there you would have to take a cab or train to reach out to your destination.

By Road - The overall connectivity via road network is quite good and you won't be facing any kind of difficulty travelling by road.
