Having the mystic hue, Gopeshwar is one of the towns of Chamoli District in Uttarakhand. The hill station is lavished with enchanting and heart-throbbing nature elements including mysterious falls, mountains and huge forestry. The majestic and gigantic statue of Lord Shiva takes your heart away. While it is being the main pilgrimage destination, this is also one of the major tourist attractions.
Perched at an elevation of 1,400 m above the sea level, Gopeshwar offers you splendid views of the Garhwal Himalayas laden with the dense vegetation of the deodar and pine trees that surround this small town. According to the beliefs of the locals, Gopeshwar is named after Lord Krishna.
The town is famous for its picturesque sceneries and the ancient temples. Gopeshwar is mostly famous for its Shiva temple, Anusuya Devi temple, Chandika Devi temple and Gopinath temple. Each year many devotees visit this town from nearby areas to offer their prayers to these Hindu Gods.
You can also trek the various peaks and temples in and around Gopeshwar which is an equivalent attraction for many adventure lovers. The famous trek to Tungnath temple, which is the highest Shiva temple isn't undertaken only by the devotees but also by the avid trekkers for the splendid views that it has to offer. Just 5 km away from Gopeshwar is the Saggar village which is the starting point of the 22 km long trek to Rudranath.
Chamolanath Temple. This is yet another faith-driven temple of Gopeshwar town. once, you are in the beautifully crafted temple, you cannot ignore the craftsmanship that has been invested to bring out the magnificent work of architecture.
Chandrika Devi Temple. The Chandrika Devi Temple is one of the best temples that hold substantial faith amongst Hindu devotees. Also, you will admire the extensive architecture of the temple that has been designed according to north Indian architecture style.
Skiing. Here, you can enjoy adventurous skiing and add into your memory. So, if you really keen on skiing, you get to visit during the month of January and February.
Trekking. Also, experience the mind and body rejuvenating trekking. Make sure you head to local expert authority to guide you throughout the journey.
Gopeshwar in Uttarakhand is the year-round destination. But if you want to enjoy the snowfall, you can plan a trip during the months of November and December.
Air- If you are planning to go by air, then the Jolly Grant Airport will be the nearest airport.
Rail- You will have to deboard at the Rishikesh Railway Station. After reaching the railway station, you can get easily bus or taxi towards Gopeshwar.
