Ladakh Winter Conclave 2020: A Move Towards Sustainable Tourism

The concept of Sustainable Tourism has always been in the news and with the passage of time, it is becoming even more common. If we go by the definition, then Sustainable Tourism is traveling to a particular place and respecting its culture, environment, as well as people.

And, keeping in mind the significance of sustainable tourism, Leh Ladakh is going to host the first Ladakh Winter Conclave 2020 from February 21 to 23. 

It is basically a three-day program where innovators and leaders from various industries will be participating. The objective of their coming together is to develop a sound road map for environment-friendly tourism in Ladakh.

What to Expect From Ladakh Winter Conclave 2020

This event will draw attention to the potential of winter tourism activities in Ladakh. Not just that, it will also see various other things happening like winter sports, cultural activities and last but not least there will be a plethora of culinary experiences.

Apart from this, the major highlight of this conclave would include:

  • Heritage Walk in the Old Town
  • Polo Match
  • Ice Hockey Match
  • Talk Sessions on Heritage and Culture
  • Talk Sessions on Adventure, Winter Sports, Environment and Wildlife

Who are All Participating in Ladakh Winter Conclave 2020?

This time, many prominent personalities will be participating in the Ladakh Winter Conclave. Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, Mike Pandey, Sumitra Senapaty, Vishwajeet Jadeja, Brigadier Ashok Abbey are a few names who will be attending this summit. 

Apart from all these eminent personalities, travel magazine giants Condé Nast Traveller and Outlook Traveller (Responsible Tourism) will be present as well.

What will be Happening?

Apart from the panel discussions on adventure and winter sports, environment and wildlife, this conclave will see presentations by various stakeholders. 

These stakeholders will be inclusive of tourism bodies, non-governmental organizations that are working locally for the primary objective of promoting art and culture.

The best part of this conclave is that the discussions are open to everyone. Thus, locals who might be interested to participate and present their views will have to register themselves on the official website of Ladakh Tourism before Feb 14, 2020.
