India Gate is also known as the All India War Memorial. As the name suggests, this is the symbol of victory during war times, situated along Rajpath, New Delhi, India. The monument is a memorial tribute to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who sacrificed their lives during World War I (1914-1918). The monument is inscribed with the names of 13,300 martyrs including servicemen, officers, and soldiers from the United Kingdom. It is designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the triumphal Arch style i.e. Arch of Constantine in Rome, Arc de Triomphe in Paris and the Gateway of India in Mumbai.  The pride of India is a 42-meter tall structure, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The historic structure is one of the major tourist attractions of India and encounters a huge number of visitors every day. 

History Of India Gate

India Gate was included in the IIWGC which is Imperial War Graves Commission. Earlier, it was a war grave and memorial for martyrs who sacrificed their lives during World War I. Then, It was named as All India War Memorial on February 10, 1921, in the presence of Duke of Connaught, officers of British Indian Army, Imperial Service Troops, Commander-in-Chief, and Chelmsford and the viceroy.
