It is the largest town situated in the northern part of Andaman and is about 300 km from Port Blair. The town is crossed by the Kalpong river which is the only river of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is also a county of the North and Middle Andaman Islands which makes it a place worth visiting. Regular sailing trips from Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam ports are available. The trip takes an average of 3 to 4 days from all these 3 ports and the ships travel to the main port of Port Blair which is Haddo Wharf. From Port Blair, a boat to Aerial Bay Jetty near Kalipur beach can be booked. The boat service is available twice a week hence one has to make reservations in advance.
