300 years is a long enough time to adapt a different culture and that's what is the history of Pondicherry French dominated the place for 300 years and it became one of the most important French colony of those times. The culture took over and collaborated with than of India and gave birth to many significant festivals and events which still take place in Pondicherry with tremendous pride and honor.
The Bastille Day is also known as 'The National Day of France' and thus the retired soldiers perform a parade and then the National anthems of both India and France.
Also, the other war soldiers pay honor and respect to the French soldiers who got killed during the battles.

The event is celebrated in Puducherry and the nearest railhead to the place is Villupuram which is about 35 kms away from there. The airport of the Puducherry is connected to Bangalore and Hyderabad and thus people can get connecting flights to reach there.
