The Uttarayani fair is a delight to the eyes of the tourists as they will find the amalgamation of culture and fun nicely blended together to entertain the audience of the fair. It is also an important way of communicating to a large population and thus political workers often use it to convey messages to people. The fair gives a proper share of entertainment and information with a variety of activities taking place along with food and crafts of the state. Uttarayani Fair is one of the most popular fairs in India. It though started in Bageshwar but now has spread in various different cities in and out of Uttarakhand.
You can reach to the exotic location by air through the nearest airport in Dehradun which is 200 km away from the place. You can also get on trains and reach to another mind-blowing place Kathgodam which is 180 km from there. A long car drive amidst and woods and the hills is also a great idea.
One can witness folk dances, performances along with other delicacies, handicrafts and what not. This place is definitely a must visit place in Uttarakhand offering some of the best scenic views of nature’s natural beauty. Moreover, this place is quite good to buy things which you want along with the different souvenirs of the culture of the state and more.

Out of all the places, it is the Bageshwar temple fair which attracts the largest number of people. However old and a commercial fair it may be but even in today’s date, it attracts a large number of people who spend the whole night dancing and singing Jhoras, Chancharis etc.
By Air - The nearest airport is the Pantnagar Airport which is located in the Kumaon Region. From there you will either have to catch a taxi or get some other means of transportation to reach your destination.
By Road - The connectivity via road network is quite good. The well-connected highways are NH 108, NH 109, NH 121 etc. Both buses and taxis are available at regular intervals of time. You can also travel via your own vehicle.
By Rail - The Uttarakhand railways department is maintaining 16 big and small railway stations alike which connect Uttarakhand with major cities such as Lucknow, Delhi, Kolkata, Pantnagar etc. All of these acts as contributing factors in making the whole travelling experience much easier and joyful.
