You are highly mistaken of you think that there is just one New Year for everyone as in India many states or culture have their separate time of welcoming a year according to Hindu calendar. Similarly, Tamil Nadu also celebrates their beginning of a year on the basis of the first month in the Hindu calendar. Their celebration is no less than world's celebration on the common New Year. This New Year is even more special as it is different and is tied with beliefs and hope of people for a lucky and prosperous year.
They decorate their houses, greet each other and Tamilians from every corner of the world come forward to unite with their loved ones. Every ritual of the day is quite meaningful and auspicious. People start their day by looking at a sight in the dawn, following with taking a sacred bath and then praying for a fruitful year ahead. A lot of things which are believed to be auspicious are collected and then offered to God.
Tamil New Year is celebrated in the entire state of Tamil Nadu; hence people can visit any city of the state to enjoy the vibe of festivity. Chennai is the state capital and is easy to access by all mediums of transport. It is well-connected by the other cities of the country by road, rail and air.
