Located at a distance of around 22 kilometres from Srinagar this park is known for covering an immense area of around 500km2. And if we go by the name of this park then it literally stands for “ten villages”. It is said that these ten villages were there in this region even before the beginning of World War I. However, this park has been protected since the year 1910. First, it was under the care of the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir and then later it was under the observation of the concerned government authorities. What is really interesting is the fact that on an initial level this park was created to ensure the clean drinking water supply for Srinagar. It was after that it was then upgraded and also declared as the National Park in the year of 1981.
Situated in Sri Nagar this is an urban lake which is also considered as the second largest in the state. This tourist attraction of Kashmir is quite popular when it comes to serious recreation activities. What is quite interesting is the fact that it has been bestowed by many names such as the “Lake of Flowers”, “Srinagar’s Jewel”

The Shalimar Bagh has been located on the very outskirts of Srinagar. Some of its other names are Shalimar Garden, Shalimar Bagh etc. It is worth knowing that this famous bagh was built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and he had built this place for his wife Nur Jahan in the year of 1619.
It can be said that the Nishat Bagh is particularly a terraced Mughal garden which was built on the eastern side of the Dal Lake. What is really interesting to know is the fact that till now this is the largest Mughal Garden located in the Kashmir Valley.
This tourist attraction in Kashmir was earlier known by the name of Hagan Valley. And there is no doubt in the fact that this is an amazingly breathtaking combination of some of the most beautiful places to explore.
The summer season is the best time to visit the Dachigam National Park. This is the best time for sightseeing.
By Air - Srinagar airport is the nearest airport. From there you will need to get a cab or some other means of transportation.
By Road - The overall connectivity via road is quite good. So, if you are planning a road trip then it would be quite convenient for you.
By Train - To travel via train one has to reach the Udhampur railway station. From there you will have to get a cab or some other means of transportation to reach your destination.
