Mandi district which was formerly known as Mandavya Nagar is one of the prominent districts of Himachal Pradesh. Mandi town is the district headquarters of the district of Mandi. It is known for various ancient temples and historical architecture which is yet to be explored by many Indians. People usually call it ‘Chota Kashi’ because of its significance and number of ancient temples in the city that too on the banks of Beas river. There is a lot to wander around the district of Mandi which comes in the way of Kullu and Manali. The lakes, architecture, temples and natural beauty are to name a few of the attractions of the place. Prashar lake is among the most famous lakes of the district.
The nearest railway stations are in Joginder Nagar and Shimla. Byroad it is easily accessible through Chandigarh, Shimla, Pathankot, Delhi etc. The nearest airport is in Bhuntar at Kullu district which is around 50 kms from the Mandi district.
